The thanksgiving service, held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Ayakoro Community, in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, brought together a distinguished gathering of traditional rulers, clergy, community leaders, dignitaries, and residents. It was a moment to celebrate a life defined by wisdom, peace, humility, and selfless service to humanity.

My presence at this sacred gathering went beyond official protocol. It was a mark of deep respect for the late monarch and a reflection of my personal and institutional commitment to community engagement, cultural reverence, and empathetic leadership. I considered it important to personally identify with the royal family and the people of Ayakoro at a time of remembrance and thanksgiving.

Traditional institutions remain a vital pillar of stability and development within our communities. They play a critical role in grassroots governance, peacebuilding, and social cohesion across the Niger Delta. Leaders such as the late HRH Righteous Inegbagha exemplified these values with grace and dignity, earning the trust and admiration of his people.

As we honoured his memory, we were reminded that true leadership is rooted in service, wisdom, and compassion.
Over the weekend, I took out time to celebrate my mother on the occasion of her 75th birthday. I reflected on the care and love she gave to my siblings and I while we were growing up. I recalled her guidance, tutelage, and discipline, which helped to straighten our paths whenever we strayed. For all these and much more, I say thank you to my mother as she marks her 75th birthday. I thank God for giving me the opportunity to express my gratitude to my mother for all she has done, while she is still alive. Many people never had the chance to celebrate their mothers or to say thank you; for some, all they could do was to say goodbye. Today, we are celebrating life, and I can proudly say thank you to my mother for moulding me into the man I have become. Despite the challenges of growing up in Port Harcourt and especially not in the best of environments, she nurtured and guided me, ensuring I did not follow paths that could have derailed my future. Her strength, love, and discipline shaped my character and kept me focused. I say thank you again and again. I […]
